New Update Rules for Aadhaar

If you haven’t updated your Aadhaar card details yet, now is the perfect time to act. In order to avoid any future inconvenience, make sure you complete the update before June 2025.

To update your Aadhaar address, visit the nearest Aadhaar Seva Kendra or use the online method.

How to Update Aadhaar Address

You can update your Date of Birth only once.
You’re allowed to update your Name up to two times.
You can update your Mobile Number, Photo, and Address as many times as needed—there are no restrictions.

Online Method:

  1. Go to the UIDAI website.
  2. Navigate to the “My Aadhaar” section and select “Update Your Aadhaar.”
  3. Click on “Demographics Data Online” to access the Self-Service Update Portal.
  4. Choose the “Address” option and proceed.
  5. Enter your new address and upload valid proof.
  6. Pay a fee of Rs 50 for the update.
  7. Verify details and submit the request.
  8. An OTP will be sent to your registered mobile number for confirmation.
  9. After verification, your request will be processed.

Offline Method:

  1. Visit your nearest Aadhaar Seva Kendra.
  2. Fill out the Aadhaar update form and mention your address change request.
  3. Provide valid address proof (electricity bill, bank statement, ration card, passport, house registry, etc.).
  4. Complete biometric verification.
  5. The request will be processed after verification.

Aadhaar Card Update Fees & Process

As of now, the Online Update (via my Aadhaar Portal) is completely free, but only until December 14, 2024.

Offline Update ( Aadhaar Center) : Rs 50 per update.

After December 14, 2024 : Online updates will cost Rs 25.

Steps to Update Aadhaar for Free Online

  1. Visit the myAadhaar Portal.
  2. Log in using your Aadhaar number and OTP verification.
  3. Click on ‘Document Update’.
  4. Review and verify your details, then click ‘Next’.
  5. Upload your Proof of Identity and Proof of Address documents.
  6. Submit your request and note the Service Request Number (SRN) for tracking.
  7. Updates will be processed within seven working days.
