WhatsApp Voice Message Transcription: A Game-Changing Update
WhatsApp, the world’s most popular encrypted messaging app, has finally released two of its most requested features: voice message transcription and official support for iPads. These long-awaited updates are already creating a buzz among users and tech enthusiasts.
WhatsApp Voice Message Transcription Now Available
Many WhatsApp users have struggled with long voice notes, especially in noisy environments or when headphones aren’t available. Meta has now addressed this by rolling out a voice message transcription feature that converts audio messages into readable text.
Currently available in five languages—English, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, and Hindi—the feature makes it easier for users to understand and respond to lengthy or unclear voice messages.
To activate:
- Open WhatsApp
- Go to Settings > Chats > Voice Message Transcripts
- Turn it on and choose your preferred language
You can then press and hold a voice message and tap “transcribe” to see its contents in text.
Notably, all transcripts are generated on your device to maintain end-to-end encryption and protect your privacy.

iPad App for WhatsApp Finally Launches
After years of user demands and speculation, WhatsApp for iPad is finally available. The tablet version mirrors the iPhone app but is optimized for multitasking using iPadOS features like Stage Manager, Split View, and Slide Over.
This allows users to chat while browsing or work on group plans while on a call—making WhatsApp more functional for productivity and power users.
The app syncs with your primary device and brings full WhatsApp functionality to iPads—something users have waited for since 2020, when multi-device support was first introduced.
