Good News: IPL 2025 Suspended for Just One Week
Fans of the Indian Premier League can breathe easy. The BCCI has paused IPL 2025 Suspension for just one week, not canceled it. This move follows the rising military tension between India and Pakistan over the past few days.
IPL 2025 Suspension: Only a Temporary Halt
The BCCI issued a statement confirming that the league will resume soon:
“The IPL 2025 has been suspended for a week. We will share the new schedule after assessing the situation with government authorities.”

Why Did BCCI Pause the IPL 2025 Season?
On Thursday night, the match between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals in Dharamsala faced unexpected disruption. What began as a power failure turned serious after air raid alerts in nearby Pathankot. Authorities evacuated the crowd after just 11 overs. Players were rushed to their hotels.
“Some foreign players were visibly shaken and are planning to fly home,” said a source.
Rising Tensions Affected Sports Grounds
India launched Operation Sindoor in response to a terror attack in Kashmir. Since then, tensions have risen across the western border. Pakistan reportedly used drones to retaliate, which increased threats to public venues, including cricket stadiums.
Given the risk, the BCCI had to act quickly to protect all stakeholders.
BCCI to Announce New IPL 2025 Schedule Soon
Rajeev Shukla, BCCI Vice President, stated:
“We’ll review the situation after a week. Once it’s safe, we’ll decide on the new schedule in consultation with the government.”
The board believes it acted responsibly by prioritizing the safety of fans, players, and staff.
Is the UAE a Backup Option for IPL 2025?
The BCCI may consider shifting IPL 2025 to the UAE. With the PSL ending in 8 days, UAE venues might soon be available. This would offer a secure environment for the remaining 16 matches.
A Positive Update for IPL Fans
While the temporary pause has caused concern, fans now know the tournament is not over. The IPL 2025 suspension is short, and the BCCI is already working on the next steps.
