Cognizant to Hire 20,000 Freshers in 2025 for AI-Led Delivery

Cognizant will hire 20,000 freshers in 2025. This move aims to build a strong base of young professionals for AI-led software development and managed services.

Reshaping the Talent Pyramid

CEO Ravi Kumar S shared this update during the Q1 CY25 earnings call. He said the new hires would help shape the company’s talent pyramid. With organic growth returning, Cognizant is focusing on long-term team structure and cost optimization.

In IT, a “pyramid” structure means having more junior employees and fewer senior ones. This approach helps manage salary expenses while ensuring productivity.

Freshers to Be Trained on AI Tools

New recruits will be trained on FlowSource, Cognizant’s in-house developer platform. It combines human and machine-generated code. This AI-first approach helps freshers learn faster and become more productive from day one.

A company official stated, “Learning to code with assistive AI tools is the best way to prepare for future tech jobs.”

Targeted Hiring from IITs and NITs

Cognizant will also continue hiring from top institutes like IITs and NITs. These recruits will fill advanced roles like full-stack developers and power programmers. Specialized talent is key to driving innovation.

Adapting to AI Disruption

AI is changing the way IT services are delivered. Cognizant is adjusting its team structure to match this shift. CEO Ravi Kumar said the talent model may no longer be a pyramid. It could become a “diamond” or a “cylinder,” depending on AI’s growth.

The company is also exploring non-traditional roles. It plans to hire people with strong domain knowledge and operations expertise, even if they don’t have engineering backgrounds.

Loyal Core Team Drives Growth

CFO Jatin Dalal highlighted that over 60,000 employees have stayed with the company for more than 10 years. Many started as freshers. They now form the core of Cognizant’s middle management team.
