Indian IT giant Infosys Layoffs 2025 has reportedly laid off around 700 freshers from its Mysuru campus, citing their failure to clear internal assessments. The terminations, which took place a few months after these employees joined the company, have sparked controversy, with the Nascent Information Technology Employees Senate (NITES) raising concerns over unfair treatment.
NITES Accuses Infosys of Unethical Practices
The IT employees’ union NITES has strongly opposed the layoffs, claiming that Infosys forced affected employees to sign confidentiality agreements. The union suggests that this move could be an attempt to prevent employees from speaking out about the terminations.
Allegations of Security Personnel Deployment
NITES President Harpreet Singh Saluja has further alleged that Infosys deployed security personnel and bouncers during the termination process. According to Saluja, this may have been done to intimidate employees and restrict their ability to document the incident or seek help. Additionally, the union claims that Infosys took measures to prevent employees from using their mobile phones during the process.
Infosys Justifies Layoffs, Cites Assessment Failures
In response to the allegations, Infosys clarified that it terminated freshers after they repeatedly failed assessments.
The company explained that it gives all freshers three chances to pass internal evaluations.
Those who fail all attempts do not get to continue with the organization.

“This kind of unfair treatment of employees cannot continue. We urge the government to take quick action to protect the rights and dignity of IT workers in India,” said Saluja.
